John Mayer and Katy Perry have split, according to sources. This should come as no surprise to those following the couple. The 28-year-old songstress and 35-year-old crooner broke up before in 2012. The profile initially started dating back in summer 2012. The two broke up briefly in August, but the two quickly reconciled and became a couple again in September.
Sources close to Katy Perry believe that the two may reconcile again. One source commented that the two would be leaving the “window open” and may give it another try. The source added that the two have found it difficult to balance work and the relationship; the hectic work schedules the busy pair have may have played a role in the breakup.
When the two reconciled after their first breakup back in 2012, the two appeared to be in a more serious relationship. Mayer was spotted in Perry’s hometown of Santa Barbara. The pair was later spotted at multiple high-profile events together. Mayer even professed his love for Perry in a 60 Minutes interview. In an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning” he said, “For the first time in my life, I don’t feel like I’m in a celebrity relationship… I know it’s high-profile. It doesn’t feel that way to me. For me it feels like something that’s very human.” In the past, Mayer has been linked to women like Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Jennifer Aniston.
Perry has publicly tweeted about her relationship with Mayer up until recently. On March 18, she sent out a rather cryptic tweet suggesting that the two may be on the rocks. The tweet, “Attention: Mercury is OUT of retrograde today. Thank God,” Perry tweeted. Whatever that means … In another interesting tweet she shared her plans of therapy, “Chiropractor, Therapist, a hike, and a psychic reading. Come on Monday, give me your best shot.”
Perry is currently back in the studio and is reportedly working on her third album. Mayer has been nursing a vocal health condition following a recent throat surgery he had last year. Mayer has been gearing up for a major tour and has confirmed that he will be hosting a live Google Hangout chat on March 21st.
